Description

Greetings! This is my space. It is something I frequently think about updating and seldom actually update. This is where I regurgitate the wonderfulness (please note sarcasm here) that is me. Well, sometimes it's wonderful. Sometimes it's painful. And always it's just me being human and trying to connect. With you. With me. With God.

January 6 - what have we learned?

Well folks, it's been two years. What have we learned?

Personally, I've learned that despite all of the barking and howling, no one could prove anything about Trump instigating a riot, or an attempted overthrow of the government.

I've re-established, in my mind at least, the fact that the media (mainstream and social) is bought an paid for, most of it by the DNC or leftist, foreign money and some by folks on the other side of the struggle for control of our country.  What was once a 'free press' has become little more than the marketing arms of political factions.

I've learned that we have people in all levels of our government, from both major political parties, who will parse words, change the words used when misquoting others, and even go so far as to attempt to change the meaning of words in order to "make their case".

I've learned that our governments (national, state, and local) are full of people who will pervert and corrupt whatever is necessary in order to attain and keep power. Constituents be damned.

I've learned that a fair number of career politicians are very willing to throw the idea of losing our "democracy" on the alter of defeating their political enemies in the struggle for power.

I've learned that most who are willing to decry the "threats to democracy" will see those threats everywhere their political enemies go.

I've learned that, despite the excellent job a handful of teachers - especially Mrs. Parsons in my freshman civics class - did in educating me on our nation's history and form of government, there are politicians who want us to believe we live in a 'democracy' and that they are the sole defenders of it.

I've learned that far too many of us are readily willing to forget or ignore the lessons we were taught in school, as well as the lessons we can learn from history beyond what is taught in school.  Too many willing to be led by people who have no desire to be leaders in their hearts.  Rather, those who have a desire for power, a desire to be rulers.

I've learned that those would-be rulers find their ability to do so much easier if they can keep us fighting each other.  Fighting over issues that don't matter - red herrings, if you will.  Like "the greatest threat to our democracy."

I've learned that the propaganda of political posturing, biased news reporting, and editorial writing posing as news has convinced far too many of us that our nation was founded on "the ideals of democracy" rather than the ideal of LIBERTY.

What have you learned?
